Dear Self,

Please try to remember that when you clean your room, take care of yourself physically (eat enough, drink water, exercise in reasonable amounts, sleep), carve out alone time, write in your journal, treat yourself (example: long showers, raspberry-scented shaving cream, buffing nails), make time to sing, and get outside, you feel better.

Also remember to buy a fuckton of M&Ms, peanuts, and pretzels and make little bags of them. And remember to eat grapes. Mmm grapes.

And finally remember that sometimes you are too immobilized by PTSD to actually do those things, and that’s okay, as long as you maintain the ability to see a way out.

Love,
Self

things that are helping me today

1. This video
2. It is May soon and I like new months because a) they are new months and b) my anniversary is the 2nd and that always makes me smile
3. I have a purple glittery sheep that makes noise when squeezed
4. Cold water
5. I will write 3 more pages’ thesis by bedtime. Period. Even if my pedagogy homework has to suffer for it (reminder to self: pedagogy is pass/no pass! chill the fuck out!)
6. Roomie meeting on the horizon
7. Journaling even if I am writing yucky stuff, at least I am writing it and getting it out

Good things:

1. I applied for another job
2. My Amazon stuff finally came! Sandals, Miss Representation, and a birthday present for my boyfriend.
3. My Gender & Sexuality in Antiquity homework is all-done and turned-in
4. I have an exercise planned for section
5. JENNY WILL BE HERE THIS WEEKEND! YAY FRIENDS AND FRIDAY NIGHT PARTYING AND SHOPPING AND COOKING AND MOVIE WATCHING AND TALKING AND LOVE LOVE LOVE
6. Friday is the Day of Silence, which isn’t FUN per se but which I look forward to every year*
7. I GOT TICKETS FOR POSTSECRET LIVE AND SO DID MY ROOMIES. We’re gonna go and CRY and LAUGH and before it starts we’re gonna each SANDWICHES
8. “It’s not dumb, it’s LAURA” - Friend L (she clarified: enthusiastic! excited about connecting with people! and I like to think I am those things!)

* Bad Thing: I have to miss breaking of the silence because I’ll be in therapy. :( Poop.

a list

of small things that are making this morning better:

1. the spruce candle (I am obsessed)
2. our roses in their vase (which had a former life as a bottle of Beck’s)
3. the fact that our paper towels have snowmen on them
4. wikipedia
5. new nail polish
6. a sense of the passing of time
7. remembering that missing my dad extra on special days is normal and in some ways, good
