fashion advice?

Hi I need help! For my interview Monday I want to look amazing and super polished, both so that I make a good impression and also so that I feel confident! I met my potential employers today (visited an event they helped run to see what they’re all about) and they are super nice and it went really well. Yay! But, I still want to look perfect — I want this job SO badly so I am pulling out all the stops. To clarify it is a job as a Graduate Assistant (so, like a TA, except I won’t be teaching courses) working with outreach for the campus Sexual Assault Crisis Services.

My outfit is a black lace pencil skirt, a mint top with a black lace stripe, and a boyfriend (i.e. loose-ish) three-quarter-length sleeve black blazer. Oh and sheer pantyhose. I can post a pic of me in everything if that helps, too. (And there are links to all the separate pieces here already.)

My questions: Black flats or leopard flats? In other words: can I get away with leopard flats? How to do my hair?* Also…jewelry? I was thinking mint/gold earrings and otherwise just my watch and rings. For necklaces I have my daily necklace (a gold cross but maybe religious jewelry at an interview is ehh), a gold compass charm (very delicate, pretty), or my (HA) Phi Beta Kappa key (except I don’t want to appear to be bragging…thoughts?). And…makeup?! I am also not makeup-gifted so nothing complicated.

* I am NOT hair-gifted. So keep it simple. My hair is kind of too short for a bun. I was thinking: down and straightened, or pinned/tied back and with a cute black headband? The former seems cuter and more formal to me…I don’t want to be brushing my hair out of my eyes etc. Thoughts?

Project 333

Is so exciting and I am having a great time going through my clothes actually. I plan to sell clothing to Like Twice, and I am giving myself a bit of wiggle room in the accessories department since I’m just getting started, but it’s still amazing. I am going to use my shelf space to hold my bazillions of extra books.

And, I am remembering that Project 333 is “not about suffering”! AKA, I will allow myself to keep my homemade Hunger Games t-shirt in my closet — I never wear it, but it reminds me of Friend L — and the dress I wore to my father’s memorial service, even though I haven’t worn it a single time since the service. (Or before.)

I will post pics at the end to show off my simplified closet!!!

4 notes

a rare work outfit in which I actually feel comfortable! woo! (black tights + wool socks + ankle boots for the commute, black tights + green flats for work)

the weird things I did outside yesterday included bizarre GPOYs. this outfit is one of my at-home uniforms, of which there are like…three. basically that is the ultimate way to dress as far as I am concerned

Wearing my new Amy-Pond-in-the-Time-of-Angels hoodie. Trying not to call myself fat. About to make tea and have tea and biscuits while reading The Casual Vacancy. Then to tidy the family room, breakfast room, and a wee bit in the dining room. And THEN I can speed tidy my room and relax.

I want this so badly you have no idea oh my fucking god.
